My name is Christina. Mamastina came by the combination of Mama and Christina. I was born and raised in Greece. I moved to America in 2016, after five years of a long distance relationship. Moving to a different country was definitely the biggest challenge in my life; or at least that’s what I thought, then came the day I became a mother.
Becoming a mother was one of my biggest dreams. I never thought that becoming a mother could be hard, nor that I would struggle in any way. When my second baby came it rocked my world. Everything I knew was forgotten. The second time around, was different. Everything was harder.
My life was turned upside down, and there I was trying to find balance.
Writing, especially poems, helps me express myself. This is why I started writing poems about motherhood. I know now that I am not the only mother that struggled, and keeps on struggling, while living the miracle of motherhood.
I share my poetry in the hopes that other mothers and caregivers understand they are not alone in the many struggles they face. You are seen. You are understood.
Love,
Mamastina
